Susmita Dasgupta

Susmita Dasgupta was Joint Chief Economist with the Economic Research Unit of the Joint Plant Committee of the ministry of steel. She has also had a distinguished career as an independent scholar with many publications as book chapters, seminar papers and in peer-reviewed research articles. She has been an active faculty development expert for the UGC training for college and university teachers. Her PhD was on the sociology of popular culture.

As a policy economist she has worked extensively on the economics of production and procurement of steel products and their inputs and penned her contributions in the form of a book, The Economics of the Indian Steel Industry, published by Taylor and Francis, the UK. The vast interdisciplinary knowledge of Dr Dasgupta has helped her develop rare insights into the shape of things of things to come, made her adaptability and insightful. She is the founder partner of Heather House LLP, a company dedicated to refinement in higher learning.
