Krishna Kumar Sinha is a Delhi-based industrial policy analyst. He specialises in foreign direct investment policy and its impact on the Indian economy. His last assignment was as Adviser to the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), now known as DPIIT. A post-graduate in production engineering from IIT Delhi, he joined the ministry of commerce and industry as an Indian Engineering Service officer in 1983.
During his 34-year career in the Government of India, Mr Sinha was closely associated with the phenomenal growth of automobile ancillary industry in India in the 1980s and 1990s. In the post-reforms period, he was engaged in the areas of foreign investment promotion and the implementation of the National Manufacturing Policy. Climate change mitigation is another area of his interest and is actively associated with the cause in an advisory role.
